SECOND PAGE | GOLDENROD CITY {Video}

[ With just a bit of trouble, the video feed clicks on, showing an odd mime/clown Pokemon. The little mime shakes the gear and laughs cheerfully. And then what seems like a living candle squeeze itself beside the other Pokemon with a smile. Both Pokemon then spend the next couple of minutes taking turns making odd faces at the camera, clearly having fun.

The two Pokemon look at each other and laugh, when suddenly the sound of footsteps rapidly approaching can be heard. Almost immediately they drop the gear—with it still on—as they quickly run to hide under the nearby bed. Sheska promptly barges into the room, looking for her newly hatched Pokemon. ]

Limeri! Bradelle! Are you two here—huh? [ Noticing that the room seems devoid of the Pokemon in question, the gear laying out in the open catches her eyes. When she picks it up and sees that the video is running, she stammers from embarrassment for a moment before closing it.

A few minutes later, Sheska turns the video feed back on, siting on her bed and looking a bit more composed then before, but still awkward. ]

Uh, I'm sorry for what my Pokemon did. And um, for wasting your time. [ And with that, the feed shuts off again. ]

[What's the matter, Sheska? Pokémon got your Gear~? Lame puns aside...]

Well, I see you're having fun.

[Oh look, a distraction! He's quite glad for one, actually, so he'll ignore the fact that you totally ditched him for Hughes!]

[ OH hey former boss that she ditched for her other former boss. ]

Aa, Colonel Archer, it's [ not ] good to see you. [ Cue awkward laugh with a smile. ] Um, yeah, I guess so.

[ If having your Pokemon run away and steal your stuff counts as 'fun'. ]

It's good to see you too, Sheska. Where are you now?

[Oh come on, he has an Alakazam that still likes to Teleport away from him! It has an IQ of 500 according to the books, it shouldn't be doing this.]

I haven't seen either of those Pokémon before; what are they?

I'm in Goldenrod City, sir. [ Oh, you wanna see her Pokemon? Well okay then. ]

Um, Limeri is a Mime Jr. and Bradelle is a Litwick, sir. [ Yes, she did not say which one is which. ]

[Well, the Pokémon's names make it pretty obvious. The one that looks like a candle would be a Litwick. And the other one... kind of looks like a mime, maybe?]

I take it you attended the masquerade, then?

[Yeah, that's... not something he's going to dwell on for very long.]

Have you done any research into breeding Pokémon, Sheska?

Well, not willingly, but I did go to the masquerade. [ It was a very awkward experience. ]

I have done some research, although, I haven't been able to uh, experiment yet. Most bebcause none of my Pokemon are capable of breeding with each other, but I've heard of Pokemon that's able to breed with anything. [ Now if only she had one of those... ]

Ah, Ditto, you mean? Yes, they're capable of breeding with anything. They have a move - Transform - that allows them to turn into a copy of any Pokémon. You can find them in this area, though they're difficult to find.

[His was just dumb and kind of slow.]

Would you like me to help you find one? Though I might have something capable of breeding with yours - if you wish to sell the eggs you've bred, it's usually best if you have "egg moves." Breeding Pokémon with a different type of "father" tends to result in numerous strange moves. I'm not entirely sure how it works yet.

[TL;DR let's breeding crazy egg moves onto things, Sheska! \o/]

Oh! I would really appreciated for your help, sir. [ SHE ISN'T WORKING WITH YOU BECAUSE SHE LIKES YOU, IT'S JUST THAT THEY HAVE SIMILAR GOALS OF BREEDING WEIRD STUFF, THAT'S ALL. ]

Well, from what I've read, baby Pokemon like Index and Limeri aren't capable of breeding, but Clavis, Appendi and Bradelle should be able to. Ah, Clavis and Appendi are my Hoothoot and Audino, respectively. [ Now let's get down to business of breeding our Pokemon for fun and profit. But mostly fun. ~~okay and profit too.~~ ]

What genders are they? I have a Honchkrow and a Crobat that can both mate with birds.

[Don't ask about the bat. It's better if he doesn't think about it.]

And it's no problem, Sheska.

[After all, he'll want a portion of those profits~]

Clavis is male, while the rest of my Pokemon are female. [ The poor bird is the only guy on her team.

And she doesn't even wanna question how a bat and bird can breed. ]

And, um, thank you very much, Colonel Archer.

It's no problem. Would you like to meet up and attempt to catch a Ditto?

[He's not entirely sure if any of his can breed with yours, outside of the birds, of course. His bird is a female, so there can be more baby Murkrows running around! Like that one he gave Hughes! And no, he's not sorry for that.]

I captured mine on the route just south of town.

Ah, yes! Then how about we meet at the southern entrance? I'm assuming you're also in Goldenrod, right sir?

Indeed I am. I'll see you there shortly.

[Click!]

[And indeed, he'll be waiting out there not long later. He currently has a strange bug Pokémon at his feet. Occasionally it will claw at his boot in an attempt to get him to pick it up, but from the look he's giving it, it's quite clear he has no intention of that. At least not within Sheska's presence. The Skorupi is used to being spoiled rotten though, and continues its attempts.]

[ Sheska, due to having a bit of a terrible track record of being late, does her best to try and be on time. Unfortunately, one, Goldenrod is rather big, two, she lives on the opposite side of town, and last but not least, Sheska is awful at running and everything physically elated. When she finally arrives, a good few minutes after Archer, she's out of breathe and looks like she's about to collapse. Her pink-and-cream Pokemon with rather odd ears following slightly behind is in no better shape. ]

I... I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long, sir...

No, you didn't... What is that thing?

[Clearly the Audino is the most important thing here! The Skorupi eyes it warily and then returns to clawing at Archer's boots. He sighs and once again nudges the bug off his boot.]

Do you need a moment, Sheska?

That would be... nice. [ Sheska places her hands on her knees and takes a few moments to breathe properly. Her Audino shyly ducks behind her when it notices Archer's Skorupi looking at it, not being a Pokemon that likes attention.

After finally catching her breathe, she stands up straight. ]

Oh, um, this is Appendi, the Audino I mentioned before.

[ Color him amused. ]

They do that sometimes! Nothing to apologize for, really. They were just having a little fun.

[ At least they didn't steal from someone like his did... ]

Well, they just hatched today, so I've been trying to keep an eye on them, but... [ She shrugs her shoulders and sighs. ] They're more of a handful than I thought.

Ah, freshly hatched Pokemon! Do you need assistance keeping an eye on them?

That would be wonderful, Lieutenant Colonel! [ Please save her from the ~~evil~~ troublesome baby Pokemon! ]

[ Assuming here that Hughes probably knows where you live because he probably settled you down there and pretty much forced you to let him pay for it and stay there. ]

I'll be right over, then!

[ Also assuming it probably isn't that far away from where he lives. Because, yes. Keeping your subordinates close and all that wonderful stuff. So, have a knock on the door a few minutes later! ]

[ After knocking on the door, Hughes will probably notice that smoke is in fact seeping from the room. Sorry, but the Sheska you are trying to reach is tied up at the moment, please try again. ]

[ Waiting, waiting... wai-- ..... Whoa! What the heck is going on? Hope you don't mind him forcing his way through your door, Sheska. ]

Sheska?~

[ Apparently, a living, burning candle should not be allowed to hide under the bed, because said bed in on fire. Sheska is desperately trying to smothered the fire using her pillow, but ends up accidentally fanning the flames instead. Bradelle the Litwick doesn't seem to care about the flames, and is almost enjoying see its trainer flail trying to put it while Limeri is mimicking Sheska in a well meaning but misguided attempt to extinguish the fire. ]

Lieu—[ Her sentence is cut off by coughing when she inhales smoke. ]—tenant Colonel!

[ Oh dear... she wasn't kidding about these things being a handful. Unfortunately, the only water Pokemon he has is his Gyarados. And... Gyarados doesn't actually know any water moves. ~~He also would not fit in the house.~~

So instead, he throws out his Chansey. ]

Quick, grab a large container and as much water as you can carry.

Sheska, you stay here. And watch them.

[ Wouldn't want... those little things to start anything else, right? He's leaving Elsie, his Eevee, there for safe measure. She'll headbutt either of them if they do anything stupid.

With that, he's dashing out the room toward the bathroom. And coming back with a trash can of water. Chansey's doing the same.

That should stop the fire. Though, now your entire bed is soaked. ]

[ Well headbutting Bradelle would to nothing since haha normal-types can't touch ghost-type. Although thankfully, no headbutting is required as the mischievous candle quickly hides behind Sheska when it see the trash can FILLED WITH WATER and Limeri copycats its bff. Sheska is a little shaken up by the whole ordeal, but mostly fine, although she does sink to the floor in relief once it's done and over with. ]

Th-thank you, sir... [ BRB fainting now. ]

[ She'd still totally try...

Meanwhile, now that the fire has been put out, Hughes is laughing a little. ]

You weren't kidding when you called them a handful!

[ She told you about ~~stairs~~ her crazy baby Pokemon bro! She told you dog!

Okay, time to get off the floor and get (somewhat) composed. ]

I hope they won't be like this forever... [ Because there's no way she could handle them if they do. ]

I'm sure they'll grow out of it with some training and discipline!

Sheska! Is that you? I didn't know you'd come to Johto!

A-Alphonse? Alphonse Elric? You're here too?!

Yeah! It's me! It's been a long time! How have you been? [ FFFT nevermind being kidnapped to Johto JUST MAKIN' SMALL TALK. No but really he wants to know how you are. There are dangerous people here and this place can be dangerous in it's RARE moments, and he's gotta look out for you! ] Brother is here, too!

Oh, I'm pretty okay; I traveled with Mister—uh, Lieutenant Colonel Hughes from Violet to Goldenrod and he helped me find a place to stay, which is where I am now. [ The past two weeks have been pretty crazy. She got kidnapped by not-aliens, then met up and traveled with her warmongering boss. Ditched that boss for her eccentric boss and now drama is bound to brew. Plus, a whole bunch of other stuff and SO. MUCH. TRAVELING. ]

I know, I saw him! Well, not in person, but on the network. [ She was pretty happy to see one of her saviors, especially since everyone thought he disappeared without a trace. ] So, how are things for you?
